The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science aims at training electrical, electronic, automation, information technologies, and electro-mechanical engineers able to function in all sectors of economy. The faculty further ensures, with few exceptions, the training in electrical engineering, electronics and automation of the students of the other, non-electrical faculties of engineering from our university.
Currently about 1,500 students (1st to 5th year of study) are registered for the 7 graduate courses offered by the Faculty, and for 7 post-graduate (master) courses (6-7th year).
The Faculty includes three departments:
- The Department of Electrical Engineering (Head of Dept. Prof. Dr. eng. Dan Bidian). This department co-ordinates the courses in General Electrical Engineering, in Electro-Mechanics and in Electrical Engineering and Computers (in English).
- The Department of Automatics (Head of Dept. Prof. Dr. eng. Francisc Sisak). This department co-ordinates the courses in Automation and Information Technologies.
- The Department of Electronics and Computers (Head of Dept. Prof. Dr. eng. Iuliu Szekely). This department co-ordinates the courses in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications.
The newest course offered to our students, in Electrical Engineering and Computers (in English), has a common representation of all three departments.
The 70 teaching staff of the Faculty comprises 28 professors, 12 associate professors, 16 lecturers, 9 assistants and 5 junior assistants, of which 48 hold Ph.D. degrees. Students are trained, besides the academics of this faculty, by a relatively significant number teaching staff from the Departments of General Technical Culture (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Drawing, etc.) and by specialists from industry, research, as associated teaching staff. Further, the Faculty employs 28 research, administrative, technical and auxiliary staff.
