UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

From accommodation facilities of only two hundred beds provided by the university in 1950 the university has now grown to host two big campuses: Memorandului and Colina Universitatii with accommodation facilities surpassing the initial ones twenty-two times. Thirteen modern student dormitories are provided for student accommodation, as well as two fully renovated canteens located in the two campuses, Memorandului and Colina Universitatii. (access the University Regulations on Organization and Operation of Student Dormitories)

Student dormitories provide comfortable rooms and spacious reading rooms. The two campuses have two central heating installations which provide permanent hot water and heat. 4232 beds are available for student accommodation in the two campuses. Memorandului Campus consists of eight student dormitories with 1700 beds and Colina Universitatii campus comprises five student dormitories with 2532 beds. Student dormitory Number 16 has nineteen three bed guest rooms, modern furniture and adjoined bathrooms. Student dormitory fees are low and students in a difficult financial situation can get discounts.

In order to facilitate student access to information (irrespective of its nature – written, audio, video), the year 2008 saw the implementation, in both locations (Colina Universitatii and Memorandului), of an integrated computer system for management access control and Intranet and Internet communication. The integrated computer system (S.I.G.U.R.) meets students’ needs within a modern university campus. It provides both the interconnection of dormitories in order to achieve a uniform information medium and a communication infrastructure for applications which have been and will be developed internally at Transilvania University of Brasov. A video surveillance system and an access and communication control have also been implemented system inside student dormitories, based on intercoms and tags. Internet access is free in student dormitories. No additional fee is paid for Internet service because the cost of this facility is included in the dormitory fee which is to be paid monthly. Transilvania University provides students with two IT rooms (with Internet access free of charge). The rooms are located in the C Building and have a capacity of fifty seats each.

Meals can be served in the two canteens from the student campuses: Canteen 1 (Memorandului) with 500 seats per series and Canteen 2 (Colina Universitatii) with 200 seats per series.

Sports facilities are provided by the three sports gyms and the three sports fields. The university also has a Multifunctional Centre for Recreation Purposes.
