The Faculty of Wood Industry was set up in 1959 being at present the unique faculty having such a
specialization in Romania.
Prior to this date, the faculty functioned within the framework of the Institute of Wood Exploitation and
Industrialization Bucharest as section of Wood Exploitation and Industrialization till 1953.
Between 1954 and 1956, it functioned as faculty within the framework of the Forestry Institute of Brasov,
and between 1956 and 1959 as section of the Faculty of Mechanics of the same Institute.
Since 1959 till 1990, the faculty functioned within the framework of the University of Brasov under the name of
Faculty of Wood Industrialization and since 1990 till today, as Faculty of Wood Industry.
Founded in 1993, the Forestry, Economics and Computer Science University College carries out its activity
within the framework of "Transilvania" University of Brasov, too, functioning as faculty.
