The origin of the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering stands in
Brasov since 1949, when the Institute of Mechanics was founded. After the merging with the
Institute of Forestry in 1956, the new name is the Polytechnic Institute of Brasov. The
Faculty of Mechanics, with one of the important section - Machine Manufacturing Technology
- was integrated part of the Polytechnic Institute. In 1964, the Faculty of Machine
Manufacturing Technology separated from the Faculty of Mechanics. In 1994, the Faculty of
Machine Manufacturing Technology was entitled the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering.
The Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering is part of
Transilvania
University of Brasov and provides the opportunity to attend long-term (five years) courses
in engineering, as well as post-graduated courses (one or two years). In the present,
there are 1740 students at long-term programs and 96 students in various post-graduate
programs. Faculty staff consists of 127 (32 university-professors, 20 senior-lecturers, 51
lecturers, 24 assistant-professors). Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering has a library
