Sign up for Games of Science 2024, the greatest communication competition for young researchers

14-15 March 2024, Research and Development Institute of Transilvania University, room L5

Starting today, you can sign up for the third edition of Games of Science, the competition that promotes science for all and that gives young researchers access to trainings in public communication and to a community of scientists and science advocates in all fields.

If you are involved in researching a topic of interest within either Transilvania University of Braşov or other educational or research institutions, and if you want to learn how to talk better about what you do, sign up here: https://socialinnovsolutions.typeform.com/to/eMpKcj18 in order to attend the training on 14 March and the competition on 15 March in Braşov.

Games of Science has eight local sessions, followed by the national finals that will take place in May. During the training, the participants discover together how they can succinctly and clearly explain complex ideas and processes. The competition Games of Science is an original format developed by Ada Roseti, and it aims to familiarize young researchers with short public presentations, from 15 seconds to 3 minutes.

The project is open to Romanian undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, as well as to researchers, teaching personnel and other specialists aged 20-35 who work in educational and research institutions or in other scientific organizations.

The eight training sessions in public communication are free of charge and take place in academic centres and online, in order to allow as many researchers as possible to attend them. The registrations for any of the local editions can be made, within the limits of available places, on the website of  Games of Science. The registration does not depend on one’s belonging to the host universities, but on his/her possibility of being present in that city, on the announced dates.

  • Bucharest, 29 February-1 March, University of Bucharest
  • Iași, 7-8 March, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University
  • Brașov, 14-15 March, Transilvania University of Brașov
  • Cluj-Napoca, 21-22 March, Babeș-Bolyai University
  • Sibiu, 28-29 March, Lucian Blaga University
  • Constanța, 4-5 April, Ovidius University of Constanța
  • Timișoara, 11-12 April, West University of Timişoara
  • Online, 18-19 April (open).

The Games of Science jury is made up of scientists, local and regional experts, representatives of the universities, science communicators and science communication advocates in multiple fields. Each stage of the project will have a dedicated and varied jury to cover all the topics brought up by the participants in the competition.

The 2024 edition of Games of Science is organized by SciPublic Forum, an association that aims to prepare and train the scientists for collaborating and communicating with the general public, and by Social Innovation Solutions, an organization active in sustainability, social impact and innovation. It is offered together with the main partner, Raiffeisen Bank, with the support of Aqua Carpatica, and it is run along with the educational partners from the seven academic centres: University of Bucharest, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Transilvania University of Brașov, Babeș-Bolyai University, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Ovidius University of Constanța and the West University of Timişoara.
