Admission procedure

The admission competition involves a specialized exam (one or more tests specific to the doctoral field), which must include an interview with the applicant. The general topic and, as the case may be, the specific topics proposed for the admission competition and the bibliography for the exam are posted on the SDI website, by fields and doctoral supervisors: https://www.unitbv.ro/en/research/doctoral-studies/doctoral-programmes.html

The specialized exam is organized for each doctoral topic (indicated by the applicant in the application and the registration form) and is taken in front of an admission committee. The admission commission consists of the doctoral supervisor, as chair of the committee, and 3 other members, doctoral supervisors or specialists in the field with the scientific title of doctor.

In the case of applicants with a bachelor's degree obtained in a field of science other than the one in which the doctoral studies are to be conducted, the admissions committee verifies the extent to which the specialist knowledge allows the doctoral training activity, as well as whether the applicant's concerns justify taking up doctoral studies in the new field of science.

Applicants from other countries can take the specialized exam / interview as video-conference, at the proposal of the doctoral supervisor. Applicants coming from Romania can take the specialized exam / interview in a video-conference system only in exceptional, well-justified situations (state of alert, necessity or urgency, medical issues, etc.), at the proposal of the doctoral supervisor.

Applicants who obtain an average of less than 8 (eight) in the specialized exam are rejected.

The admission grade is obtained as an arithmetic average of:

a) the average obtained at the specialized exam (arithmetic average of the grades granted by the members of the admission committee);

b) the average obtained at the dissertation exam (where applicable);

c) the average obtained at the bachelor's exam.

The admission average is the criterion for admission and ranking of applicants to occupy the places in competition and to obtain doctoral scholarships

The criteria for allocating budgeted places and scholarships is available in the Methodology for admission to doctoral studies.
