UNITBV in Partnership with Institutions of Iran

15 July 2022

At the invitation of the Romanian Embassy in Tehran, in the context of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and Iran, a delegation led by the Rector of Transilvania University of Brașov, Prof. Dr. Ioan Vasile Abrudan, which included Prof. Dr. Mircea Horia Țierean, President of the Senate of Transilvania University of Brașov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana-Maria Cazan, coordinator of the Project Management Office, and Lect. Dr. Alexandra Belibou, Faculty of Music, paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, between 9 and 14 July 2022.

Accompanied by Her Excellency, Ms. Mirela-Carmen Grecu, Ambassador of Romania to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the UNITBV officials participated in a series of meetings aimed at developing cooperation in the field of education and research, and at identifying new opportunities for collaboration. Thus, the programme of activities included meetings and discussions at the University of Tehran, a university with which UNITBV has concluded a framework agreement for cooperation and a partnership agreement within the Erasmus + programme, as well as receptions at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An important component of the programme aimed at initialling and signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Transilvania University of Brașov and the University of Isfahan, and at discussing future joint projects. In the context of the presence in Isfahan, the delegation was received by the Vice-Governor of the province of Isfahan, with responsibility for international cooperation in the cultural and economic fields, Mr. Dr. Amir-Reza Naghș. At the same time, at the proposal of the Iranian side, the delegation held discussions on the topic of possible collaborations between the University of Arts of Isfahan and UNITBV, and attended a concert prepared by the Iranian students.

The discussions held with the officials of the visited institutions focused on common areas of interest regarding scientific research, student and teacher mobilities, good practices, attitudes and mentalities that encourage both the preservation of traditions and interculturality.

The visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran was an opportunity to strengthen the existing partnerships between the institutions of the two countries, but also to develop new academic and cultural collaborations, which is the basis for effective cooperation in all common fields.
