  • Almaclara – Carmen (arrangement for two cellos)

Almaclara – Carmen (arrangement for two cellos)

27 July, at 7:00 p.m., Multicultural Centre of Transilvania University

Luiza Nancu and Beatriz Gonzalez (Almaclara) will present at the Multicultural Centre a unique arrangement for two cellos of the most representative moments of the opera Carmen by George Bizet. The musical story will be complemented by the reading of the actress Amelia Crețiu, who, from the perspective of the central female character, will follow the narrative thread underlying this masterpiece.

Luiza Nancu graduated from the National University of Music, Bucharest, under the supervision of Prof. Aurel Niculescu. She was a soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra of Bacău, George Enescu Philharmonic, Orquesta Internationale d´Italia and Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunia (where Pablo Casals’ Goffriler cello was entrusted to her on the occasion of the Festival of Puerto Rico). She is currently a member of Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla. She recorded two CDs, namely “Cantos de España” and “Música española y argentina para violonchelo y piano”.

Beatriz Gonzalez Calderón is a graduate of Conservatorio Superior de Músic, Sevilla. Between 2003 and 2008, she collaborated with Orquesta Joven de Andalucia, with Orquesta Manuel de Falla Cadiz and with Real Orquesta Simfonica de Sevilla. She is currently the artistic manager of the Department of Culture at Junta de Andalucia. Since 2008, she has been conducting Orquesta de Camara de Mujeres Almaclara, which she founded herself, and through which she makes known the artistic activity of many female composers, such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Alma Mahler, Pauline García Viardot and Clara Schumann, whose artistic creations have remained in the shadows for social-historical reasons. In 2014, together with Luiza Nancu, she founded the Almaclara Festival; and in 2018, the Almaclara duo.
The entrance is free.
