Rewarding Academic Excellence: UNITBV Celebrates Top Achievers Among Students

27 November 2023

Dozens of top-performing students from UNITBV (Transilvania University of Brașov) were honored today for their exceptional achievements. The university recognized graduates who excelled as class valedictorians and first-year students who attained a perfect 10 GPA in their high school exams or held the valedictorian position.

Rector Prof. dr.eng. Ioan Vasile Abrudan and Vice-Rector for Students, prof. dr. eng. Daniel Munteanu, bestowed honors upon a total of 64 students. These students were granted laptops by the university and received free accommodation and meals throughout the academic year. Among them, 46 were high school valedictorians who chose to pursue their higher education at UNITBV. Additionally, two students who achieved a perfect 10 GPA in their high school exams are now enrolled in the Faculty of Product Design and Environment.

Moreover, 16 students who graduated as valedictorians either at Transilvania University of Brașov or other universities across the country opted to continue their studies at UNITBV. They, too, are entitled to the same benefits throughout the academic year. Similar to their senior peers, they will receive free accommodation and meals as long as they maintain an annual GPA above 9.

The valedictorians were selected from 15 faculties of Transilvania University of Brașov, predominantly comprising 9 students from Brașov County, followed by 8 from high schools in Prahova, 4 each from Bacău and Covasna counties, and 3 from schools in Argeș, Buzău, Harghita, and Neamț. The remaining valedictorians hailed from Dâmbovița, Vrancea, Alba, Arad, Mureș, Teleorman, and Brăila counties.

Regarding graduates who were valedictorians at Transilvania University of Brașov, 15 of them will pursue their master's degrees at the same faculties where they completed their bachelor's studies. Notably, one student chose Brașov over Tg. Jiu for her further studies, despite graduating from the latter.

This rewarding program for valedictorians has been ongoing at Transilvania University of Brașov for nearly a decade. Additionally, at the end of each academic year, students who conclude their bachelor's studies with the highest GPA in their faculty receive a financial reward from UNITBV and a trip to any country worldwide of their choice. This year, the bachelor valedictorians traveled to the United States, specifically to Columbia University in New York, with all travel expenses fully covered by the university.
