Artist Talk and Portfolio Reviews: Aurora Kiraly

12 December 2025, at 6:00 p.m., Multicultural Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov

Within the series of dialogues Artist Talk, we invite you to a meeting with the prestigious artist 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐚́𝐥𝐲. The event will include the presentation themed on Heroines – Feminine Milestones in the History of Art and Photography, followed by a conversation moderated by Ionela-Andreea Ghețe. Starting from the proposed topic, the discussions will approach the history of art and of photography created by women, as well as the way in which they can inspire the creation of new and interesting artworks and discourses today.

𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐘 is a visual artist whose approach explores memory and perception, through photography, drawing, textile art and installation. Her projects address and convey the complex connections between events, the public and private spheres of experience. In recent years, her interest has been drawn to the memory of spaces with a strong historical and political background; and a constant pursuit of hers is the history of art, her gaze being turned towards the female artists’ creation in various historical periods.

She has exhibited in many renowned spaces all over Romania and abroad, including: BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels; Paris Photo, Grand Palais, Paris; Anca Poterașu Gallery, Bucharest; Zina Gallery, Cluj; Espace Niemeyer, Paris; Biennale Art Encounters, Timișoara; Spinnerei Leipzig Project Space. Since 2007, she has been teaching for the Department of Photography and Dynamic Image, within the National University of Arts, Bucharest. Her creations are part of the world’s important collections, an artwork of hers having been recently purchased by the Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMA).

We will be therefore waiting for you on Friday, 12 December 2025, starting at 6:00 p.m., in the Multicultural Centre (ground floor of the Rectorate building, 29 Eroilor Blvd.). The entrance is free, within the limit of available places.

*

This event will be followed, on Saturday, 13 December 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m., by a working meeting with local photographers and artists who conduct their activity in the photographic environment, and who would like to improve their technique, portfolio and/or discourse. To participate in this second meeting, please fill in the form available at https://forms.gle/sAR3MDzQYHLMjUat5.

These two artistic acts come under the cultural mediation programme of the exhibition “Sibylle Bergemann – Photos: Between Fashion and Social Reality”, hosted by Brașov Art Museum between 5 December 2025 and 8 February 2026. The exhibition is curated by Frieda von Wild. The local coordination belongs to Ionela Andreea Ghețe, on behalf of the German Cultural Centre, Brașov, and to Alexandra Ilnițchi-Ardelean (Alex Reborn), on behalf of Brașov Art Museum.

Partners: Ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, Goethe-Institute Bucharest, Multicultural Centre of Transilvania University of Brașov, Brașov County Council.
