23 January 2026
The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee has just announced the delegation that will be representing Romania at Milano - Cortina 2026, the 25th Olympic Winter Games: in total, 29 athletes and 17 coaches. Of all 46 participants, 22 are students and graduates of Transilvania University of Brașov.
The Romanian athletes will compete in eight sports events: biathlon, bobsleigh, figure skating, luge, ski jumping, Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboard. In ski jumping, Romania will be represented by four athletes, all of them students at the Faculty of Physical Education and Mountain Sports. Moreover, their coaches are graduates of the same faculty.
Two of the biathletes also originate in our city and graduated from Transilvania University of Brașov. Just the same, four of the seven lugers, together with their coaches, are UNITBV graduates.
Figure skating is the only sporting event in which our university has no representative. All other Olympic events, instead, are attended by at least one student or graduate of Transilvania University.
2026 Milano - Cortina Winter Olympics will take place between 6 and 22 February, in Italy. As regards this edition of the Games, the Romanian delegation has seven more athletes than at the previous edition, Beijing 2022, when its members competed in seven challenges.
