“Memento” by Reinhardt Schuster – Exhibition of paintings
10 June 2026, at 6:00 p.m., Multicultural Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov
The Multicultural Centre of Transilvania University of Brașov launches, here as well, the invitation to the opening of “Memento”, Reinhardt Schuster’s paining exhibition, which will take place on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m., in the artist’s presence. The introductory speech will be given by Radu Popica, PhD, historian and researcher within Brașov Art Museum.
Reinhardt Schuster is a famous painter of German origin, born in the village of Bod, county of Brașov, Romania, on 1 September 1936, and settled down in the city of Bonn, Germany. Taking at first the avant-garde artist Mattis-Teutsch’ drawing classes, he refined his vision and strengthened his technical approach at “Nicolae Grigorescu” Fine Arts Institute, under the guidance of professors Thomas Krauss, Ion Marșic and Paul Vasilescu.
Testimonies of his special chromatic sensitivity, with Fauve affinities, yet balanced with bright tones, and of his unique technical mastery for conveyance in broad strokes and expressive associations, Reinhardt Schuster’s artworks have been highly appreciated in many personal exhibitions both in the country and abroad.
His artworks are reunited under national collections in Romania and Germany, but also under private ones in USA, Japan, United Kingdom, Austria, Denmark, Romania or Germany.
The paintings on display in this exhibition, Memento, which have been achieved in the last 40 years, are “manifestations of the world state and of life, through the filter of the painter’s inner essence”, as appreciated by Irmgard Sedler, PhD.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the Multicultural Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov (ground floor, UNITBV Rectorate building, 29 Eroilor Blvd.), between 10 and 30 June 2026, from Monday to Friday, between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and the entrance is free.
Partners: “Friedrich Teutsch” Centre for Dialogue and Culture under the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Romania and Association of Transylvanian Saxons from Bod in Germany (Dorfgemeinschaft der Brenndörfer).
