Growing numbers of university applicants settling on UNITBV: the confirmed places, on the rise at 14 out of all 18 faculties

Transilvania University of Brașov has marked, after the July 2026 admission session, a 3% increase in the number of successful applicants who confirmed their place in the bachelor’s study programmes, as compared to the same time last year.
On 1 August, at the end of the third confirmation stage, 4,156 applicants now admitted to the bachelor’s study programmes, in the full-time form of education, had already confirmed their place at one of our university’s 18 faculties.
In comparison with last year, 14 out of UNITBV’s faculties have shown growth in the number of secured enrolment slots. A few of the engineering faculties take special pride in these significant positive trends: Faculty of Silviculture and Forest Engineering, with a 44% increase, Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering - with 42%, and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - with 29%.
This year’s results might well reflect the applicants’ interest in UNITBV’s educational offer, as well as their confidence in the quality of the educational process and in the courses of action taken by our university for an enhanced academic experience. These measures include stronger emphasis on ongoing student evaluation, aimed at fostering participation in the didactic activities and at driving advancement throughout the semester.
Conversely, a sharper decline relative to the previous year has been reported at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, where both the number of registered applicants and the number of students-to-be who confirmed their place have decreased by about 45%. Similar trends have been reported at other universities nationwide. Plausible rationales include a shift in youth perception of career outlook in IT, against the backdrop of fast changes triggered by the evolution of artificial intelligence.
On 4 September 2026, Transilvania University of Brașov will display the list of open enrolment slots for the autumn admissions. University registrations will continue online until 11 September 2026.
