A case study of the Ukrainian women refugees’ online activities
18 September 2023

On Monday, 18 September 2023, Transilvania University of Brașov, as a beneficiary, hosted the launch of the project “@Work: Resilient societies in the wake of persistent crises. A case study of Ukrainian women refugees’ digital work”, coordinated by Mariana Roșca, a scientific researcher at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences.

The main goal of the project is to improve the level of knowledge and records regarding the refugees’ digital work, based on a case study of Ukrainian women refugees in Romania. At the same time, the project aims to contribute to the development of a more resilient society. Thus, during the two years of project implementation, the following specific research objectives will be pursued:
a) to develop a theoretical framework for a better understanding of the migrants’ online employment;
b) to research the Ukrainian women refugees’ digital-work experiences in Romania, in order to define in more detail their pursuits, but also their real and potential activities, to assess their working conditions, and to identify negative aspects as well as progress;
c) to analyse how digital-work activities can create new employment opportunities for other vulnerable groups.

The project implementation period is 24 months (18 September 2023 – 17 September 2025) and the total value of the financing contract is 742,425.63 RON, which is the equivalent of 149,568 EUR. The project is financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, Component C9. PRIVATE SECTOR, RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION SUPPORT, “I9. Support for holders of certificates of excellence received in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship Award”, grant no. 760132/18.09.2023
