Courses on metaverse technologies and photogrammetry

18-22 November 2024, NII1 room, N building

The project Hybrid Extended reAliTy (HEAT -  https://heat-xr.eu/) came to light out of desire to address the major challenges that exist today for the realization of immersive virtual reality experiences such as holoportation, navigable hyperrealistic 3D spaces and mixed virtual reality. The project aims at integrating immersive media technologies such as point-cloud/holographic imaging, multi-sensory media and social virtual reality into a multi-user communication system, with a view to providing users with contextual experiences for innovative hybrid XR applications. Thus, remote users can experience a real environment captured through immersive virtual reality, while on-site users can view and interact with the remote users’ holograms integrated into the real environment through holographic rendering.

The project is coordinated by the University of Cagliari, and the Romanian partners are Transilvania University of Brașov, Transilvania Arts & Events Association and Orange Romania.

Within the project activities, between 18 and 22 November 2024, Prof. Simone Porcu, conducting her activity at the University of Cagliari, will hold a series of courses dedicated to metaverse technologies and photogrammetry. The courses will take place in NII1 room (N building –Politehnicii Str. with entrance from Eroilor Blvd.), every day starting at 4:00 p.m. On the first day, Monday, 18.11.2024, the class will be preceded by a brief presentation of HEAT project.

The courses are also included within the specific activities of IEEE Broadcasting Society, Romanian Chapter, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Vlad Popescu, IESC Faculty, Department of Electronics and Computers. The courses are available to all UNITBV students, but also to everyone interested in this field.

The full schedule is available HERE.
