UNITA Matching Event
22 and 23 May 2025, “Sergiu T. Chiriacescu” International Conference Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov
In the framework of the activities dedicated to UNITA – UNIVERSITAS MONTIUM Alliance, Transilvania University of Brașov will be organising, on 22 and 23 May 2025, a Matching Event managed by the Inclusive Societies hub, which will focus on the scientific topic “Pathways to Inclusive Societies: Exploring the Role of Democracy, Institutions, Politics, Citizenship, and Information”. This meeting mainly aims at strengthening and supporting the UNITA community, by bringing together the researchers and professors who share similar or complementary pursuits in the field of this research hub.
During the two days, the participants will engage in several dynamic and interactive activities, meant to foster the exchange of ideas and the formation of partnerships. The agenda includes concise “elevator pitch” presentations, which will set out the research interests, followed by dedicated “matching” sessions, in order to identify the potential collaborators. The special guest on the first day of the event is Assoc. Prof. Antonio Momoc, PhD, from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, University of Bucharest, who will give a lecture themed on Populism, Democracy, Disinformation, Polarization. Thematic working groups will be organised for advanced discussions and the development of concrete lines of action, as well as various networking activities, in a both formal and informal setting.
This structure of the event has been designed so as to encourage the identification of new fields of collaboration and to lay the foundations for future projects of international cooperation. Its purpose is to amplify the impact of the research and initiatives developed within the UNITA Alliance. Moreover, as a natural follow-up of this networking event, the launch of a call for UNITA Starting Grants is envisaged. These grants will provide the necessary funding for strengthening the research networks established during the meeting in the city of Brașov and within the Inclusive Societies research hub, through the covered set of themes.
