Artist Talk: Johannes Hugo Stoll in dialogue with Adrian Lăcătuș
17 December 2025, at 6:00 p.m., Multicultural Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov
The Multicultural Centre of Transilvania University of Brașov invites you to a conversation with the German artist Johannes Hugo Stoll, whose presence in the city Brașov has been facilitated through the programme Artist in Residence @ Transilvania University.
Johannes Hugo Stoll (born in 1986, at Idar-Oberstein, Germany) studied the arts at the Universities of Mainz, Leipzig, Warsaw, Seoul and Stuttgart, which he graduated from in 2017, with a thesis on the takeaway culture. Under the pseudonym Future Grandpa’s Secret Recipe, his multidisciplinary projects explore the boundaries between the digestible and the non-digestible, investigating how food practices shape memory, identity and social relations. Through installations, drawings, texts and collaborations, these projects turn an ordinary day’s leftovers and kitchen materials into poetic reflections on responsibility, ecology and transformation.
His recent exhibitions and awards include: “Out Of The Blue” MMCA Residency Goyang, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul, South Korea; “Archaeopetiser”, WUKA – Naturalia / Artificialia, Stuttgart, Germany (2022); “Positive Vibration”, ElectroPutere Gallery, Romania (2021); “¯\(ツ)/¯ (shrug)”, Centre Culturel Franco-Allemand, Karlsruhe, Germany (2021); “Twittering Machine”, Burg Galerie, Volkspark, Halle (Saale), Germany (2020); “Strike Gently Away”, Salzburg, Austria (2019); “Where Plato Taught”, Youth Art Biennial, Franzensfeste Bozen, Italy (2018).
Stoll is currently an artist in residence at our University’s Multicultural Centre, in Brașov, where he is working on his ongoing project, “The Talking Kitchen”.
We will be therefore waiting for you on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, starting at 6:00 p.m, at the Multicultural Centre (ground floor of the Rectorate building, 29 Eroilor Blvd.) to participate in an exceptional dialogue, which will open new horizons in art.
